Lionel Messi stunned Barcelona fans yesterday by making the bold claim that a move away from the Camp Nou is not out of the equation.
But Jorge Messi (father of Lionel) claims there is no validity to the reports saying a move is imminent.
He told Marca: “Right now I can say there’s nothing whatsoever in it.
“Our plan is to stay here, but since people read between the lines, they end up going overboard.”
However Jorge Messi did also say that his son would have to consider a move if the Catalan giants were willing to sell, with Premier League clubs Arsenal, Man United and Man City all interested.
He added: “Obviously if the club turns around one day and says ‘this offer has come in and we want to sell you’, we’ll have to look into it.
“At the moment, though, we’re not even thinking about that.”
