New Arsenal signing Mesut Ozil has admitted that he is curious about English football and the German international has revealed that talks with Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski convinced him to join the North London club.
The former-Real Madrid midfielder faced the media today with Arsene Wenger ahead of the weekend’s game againt Sunderland and he also trained with the squad for the first time after being away with Germany for international duties.
Pictures of Ozil at the Arsenal training ground have also been released today and the signs are good for fans of club as Ozil appears to have settled in very well, with help from his German counterparts.
Talking to the media, the midfielder outlined his impressions of Arsenal and has admitted that he is curious about the future.
“It has been very interesting,” said Ozil.
“I could not think a lot about Arsenal [at first], because I had to focus on the German national team, but of course I talked to Mertesacker and Podolski about Arsenal, I asked them how the Club is and how the people are here.
“Of course I am curious. this is something very new for me. I have only heard positive things and know myself how this club is.
“It is a very familiar [well-known] club, a very successful club with very young players, and the young players develop very well here. This was one of the reasons why I chose to come here, I want to continue to improve myself.
“I am really happy to be here under such a great manager.”
