28 year old Mexican World Cup Hero Guillermo Ochoa is being lined up by Premier League runners up Liverpool as they look to provide competition for first choice goal keeper Simon Mignolet. Although Liverpool have Pepe Reina returning from a loan spell with Napoli it is widely speculated that the Spain international doesn’t feature in Brendan Rodger’s plans and therefore he will be shown the exit door.
Ochoa who is a free agent after his contract ran out with recently relegated Ajaccio in Ligue 1 is free to sign for ho ever he pleases and Liverpool seem to have a distinct interest in the keeper. Although Ochoa’s agent has stated that no concrete offers are in place at this moment in time even after contact with a number of clubs. Jorge Berlanga Ochoa’s agent has been quoted as saying, ‘Many clubs are interested in my client but we still haven’t recieved any concrete offers. Now it is normal that so many clubs will be interested in him after he played so well at the World Cup.’
A move to Arsenal could also be on the cards for the El Tri international as they look to acquire competition for Wojciech Szczesny after Lukas Fabianski moved to Swansea on a free transfer as his contract with The Gunners ran out. Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest as they look to find a keeper to fill the void left by Belgium stopper Thibaut Courtois who returns to Chelsea after a number of succesful loan spells. A move to the Bundesliga has also been mooted for the former Ajaccio goalkeeper.
