Michael Owen suggests Liverpool possesses a better fnisher than Salah
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen caused a debate by claiming that the Reds have a more risky finisher than their star forward, Mohamed Salah.
Despite Salah leading the team in scoring this season with 23 goals, Owen believes Jurgen Klopp has a hidden treasure waiting to be used.
And speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen has claimed that Jota is the best finisher in the squad, not Salah.
“There’s a lack of confidence in front of goal at the minute and it’s showing,” he said.
“Again in this situation it’s Jota who I think is probably the best finisher in this Liverpool team, you can either side there or there, but you can’t play safe, you have to find the corners. Be cool, be calm.”
With Liverpool’s recent troubles, Salah’s form has fallen slightly, causing concerns about the team’s attacking prowess. However, Owen offers another possibility inside Klopp’s squad – a player whose potential may be unlocked to revive Liverpool’s goal-scoring prowess.
With Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota all pulling for front-line spots, Owen believes Klopp should consider all of his attacking options in order to fix the team’s recent goal drought.
Liverpool’s failure to score in their last two games points out the importance of Klopp taking Owen’s idea seriously, which could alter the Reds’ attacking dynamics.
