Former Manchester United and England star Michael Owen has spoken about Romelu Lukaku’s recent form, and admitted that there is one part of his game that the striker needs to improve on.
The Belgian started his Old Trafford career in sizzling form, scoring 11 goals in his first 11 matches for the Red Devils. However, since then he is without a goal in seven.
Owen backed Lukaku to return to form soon, but said that if he were United boss Jose Mourinho he would rather his striker score at a more consistent rate, rather than in patches.
“He will score 25 goals-plus. I am sure he will. I think it is just a minor blip.” Owen said about the 24 year-old. “A few weeks ago, everyone was wondering whether he’d be breaking records, he had such a good start.”
“At Everton, he would score in groups. He’d get a hat-trick, then a two and a four and a three, then he wouldn’t score.”
“I would prefer my striker to score one every game than in clumps like that, but someone will be on the end of a two or three-goal bashing by him very soon.”
