Star reveals he is still gaining fitness

Manchester United forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan has broken his silence on his absence for the club by admitting he is not yet fully match fit.

The 27-year old joined United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer for £26.3million but has only made 4 Premier League appearances so far this season under Jose Mourinho.

Mkhitaryan last featured for United in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on September 10 and was brought off at half-time by Jose Mourinho after a poor showing in the opening 45 minutes.

The Armenia international has been sidelined with a thigh problem since then, although Mourinho hinted that the midfielder was close to being fully fit after Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford.

‘I wouldn’t say injured but I would say not 100 per cent,’ said the United boss.

‘When they are not 100 per cent I always think this kind of difficult moment where you feel you have to win the match I prefer always to go with players who are 100 per cent ready physically and the mental point of view.’

And now, Mkhitaryan has revealed via Twitter that he has returned to training ahead of his return:
