Player unlikely to be fit for Manchester derby
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a doubt for the Manchester derby after it was confirmed the thigh injury he picked up on international duty would take 10 days to heal.
The forward picked up the knock during an off-the-ball challenge playing for his country, Armenia. He was taken off as a result of the problem.
Test results were described as ‘not encouraging’ and he now faces a race to get fit for the biggest game of the season so far, which is just a week away.
The Armenian FA ruled Mkhitaryan out of their game against Denmark on Sunday and he will now return to Carrington to be assessed by United’s medical staff.
