Liverpool superstar’s Egyptian National Team edge closer to World Cup exit.

Rampant performance from Russia helped the hosts see off Egypt with ease and almost book their place in the knock out stages.

Hosts Russia came on top with a great 3-1 win over Egypt in St Petersburg on Tuesday evening to put themselves on the brink of the World Cup last 16.

The damage on Egypt was already done in a 15-minute blitz from Russia early in the second half.

Ahmed Fathi’s calamitous own goal in the 47th minute broke the deadlock.

Later the former Real Madrid man Denis Cheryshev scored in the 59th minute and then Artem Dzyuba struck in the 61st minute.

Two goals in two minutes hepled them to settle the Group A clash and move Russia onto a maximum six points after two games.

Russia’s final game in Group A is against Uruguay in Samara next Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Egypt face Saudi Arabia in Volgograd on the same day.

And now Mo Salah’s Egypt edge closer to World Cup exit in the early Group stages.
