FC Basel midfielder set to complete transfer to Arsenal over next few days

Arsenal Football Club are on the verge of signing FC Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

The Egyptian is set to undergo a medical in Paris today before signing all the necessary paperwork tomorrow afternoon, with the deal to be finalised and announced when the transfer window officially opens up next month.

Arsenal and Basel have already agreed on a transfer fee, with the Gunners set to pay ÂŁ5million to the Swiss outfit, and the 23-year-old will supply depth to the midfield area for the remainder of the season.

The Gunners are still without Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla, with the latter two expected to be out until March/April time.

Four-Year Deal

Arsene Wenger admitted a few weeks ago that additions were needed in the centre of the park, and Elneny is seen as the perfect signing as he’s young and versatile.

The midfielder will put pen to paper on a four-year deal and will now wait to hear back regarding a work permit and a visa.

It’s believed Arsenal will still go big in the summer to sign another centre-midfield, with three likely to depart the Emirates.

Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky are all expected to depart at the end of the season.
