MOHAMED SALAH: Agent of midfielder confirms Roma talks

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has dismissed any rumours suggesting that Mohamed Salah could leave for Roma in the January transfer window.

Salah, aged 22, has been a bit-part player at Chelsea this season, featuring on a sporadic basis for Jose Mourinho’s table-toppers.

Recent reports have linked Salah to Turkish outfit Besiktas, after their club president Firket Oram claiming that the Istanbul giants have opened up negotiations for the winger.

However, Roma have also been linked with the Egyptian, with the agent of the player, Oliver Kronenberg claiming that Roma are keen to do a deal.

‘It’s very likely he’ll leave Chelsea on loan,’ Kronenberg told Gazzetta dello Sport.

‘I spoke to Roma, but the cost of the operation is very high. He is on big wages at the moment and would like to maintain them. We’ll wait and see what happens.’

But Jose Mourinho has moved swiftly to dismiss such talks over a potential move away from Chelsea.

‘He can’t leave, I have 20 players today with Didier [Drogba] a bit ill and [Cesar] Azpilicueta injured,’ the Portuguese manager stated after the West Londoners 5-0 win over Swansea on Saturday.

‘I had all my players here today, just [Nathan] Ake in the stands.

‘I have a very short squad, I need everybody. For Salah to leave someone has to come, and I don’t think we are going to let Salah go on loan and then spend some money to bring somebody else in.

‘So I don’t think so, unless my club comes to me and says Salah goes on loan and we are going to buy a £50million player.
