Alfredo Morelos needs to channel his aggression, said Steven Gerrard.

The Colombian striker was sent off for kicking out at Scott McKenna in Rangers’ win against Aberdeen.

Steven Gerrard has warned Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos by saying that he needs to control his temperament and channelise it in the right direction to reach the next level. The Colombian ace was in superb form against Aberdeen as he notched up two goals in the first half but was sent off in the second half after he kicked out at Scott Kenna. The defender was also sent for an early shower after catching Morelos with his leg but it was who was criticised more due to his temperamental act.

Speaking to the media after the match, the Rangers gaffer said, “I think for Alfredo to go to the next level or to improve he will have to channel his aggression. I’ll be honest I haven’t had the chance to analyse the incident back so I can’t tell you if Scott deserved a red or whether Alfredo did.”

He added, “But they’ve had a fantastic battle up until that point. Scott was physical with Alfredo, Alfredo was physical with them. Two top players but unfortunately they have both ended up with red cards. Whether they deserved it I’ll have to analyse it. The finish [for the second goal] was stunning. We were right behind it. It was an excellent finish. He had another chance for the hat-trick as well before he came off and that’s the reason why we worked so hard to get some more firepower in January in Jermain Defoe. You saw how quickly he gets that chance off on his weak side. That’s the reason he’s played at the top for so long.”
