Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has admitted that he wants to leave Southampton, in order to play Champions League football.

The highly rated 24 year old enjoyed a superb season at Southampton, as they finished eighth in the Premier League.

And so much so, he has been called up on Didier Deschamp’s World Cup stand by squad list.

The play maker has attracted interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool, who are both likely to table bids in the coming weeks or so.

Schneiderlin admitted that a move to a Champions League club is vital for his career.

“For my progress and my visibility, it would be better to play for a club who play in the Champions League.

“I know there is a lot of speculation, but I still have three years on my contract, it does not depend on me. We’ll see in the coming weeks.”
