Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has asked Ashley Young to return to Old Trafford as the Red Devils are having injury concerns at present. Ecuadorian midfielder Antonio Valencia limped off the field during United’s match against San Jose Earthquakes . He has now flown back to Manchester to undergo treatment. This means that the Ecuadorian will miss the start of the season.

Valencia adds up to United’s injury list as new signing Diogo Dalot will also be missing the start of the season owing to a knee injury. Hence, Mourinho has asked Young to cut short his vacation and return to United’s pre-season training camp.

Mourinho remarked, “Valencia is injured, you are right, and he will be injured for the beginning of Premier League, Diogo Dalot is also in the recovery phase, he will not be ready for beginning of Premier League.”

“Ashley Young, a possible to play right-back, is on holiday. I don’t know if he fancies to be back for that and put himself to be available for the team or stay on holiday.  Victor [Lindelof] is a possibility, he is not a right-back but is a possible. He starts training next Monday. I will send people to Manchester to train with Victor. It makes no sense for him to come to the U.S. So if Matteo [Darmian] leaves he leaves because the right offer arrives and if he stays, yes you are right, he can be important for us.”

Manchester United will be playing Liverpool on Saturday at the International Champions Cup.
