Mourinho: Van Gaal best manager

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes Louis van Gaal has been the best manager at the World Cup.

The 62 year-old led his country out of a very difficult group including a 5-1 thrashing of Spain and after yesterday’s 3-0 win over Brazil, finished the tournament in third place.

Mourinho will come up against van Gaal next season when the Dutchman begins his spell at Old Trafford and the Portuguese feels that the United man is more capable of getting the most out of his players than he originally thought.

The Chelsea boss spoke as Yahoo’s Global Football Ambassador“Vahid [Halilhodzic], [Miguel] Herrera, [Jorge] Sampaoli, [Jorge Luis] Pinto, Jurgen [Klinsmann], [Jose] Pekerman – all of them fantastic.

“But if I had to choose one because I think he did a fantastic job with a team that, in my opinion, was not strong enough to arrive where they arrived, I would choose Louis van Gaal.”

Mourinho also thought that Frenchman Paul Pogba’s performances firmly show he is the best young player at the tournament.

“I would say Pogba, because he had also a good World Cup and in spite of the fact his team didn’t reach the last four,” said the Chelsea manager.

“I think he showed that he is a big player for the next World Cup for sure.”
