The Italian side have entered the race for Wojciech Szczesny’s signature in summer

Napoli will try to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in summer, according to reports from Italy.

Szczesny is just one of a number of goalkeeping targets for the Italian side, as they look to add reinforcements in between the sticks.

The Arsenal man is near the top of their list of targets though, as the Serie A side believe the signing of the shot-stopper could boost their current squad, while they have liked what they have seen of the Poland man during his loan spell at rivals Roma.

He has proven that he is capable of doing a job in the Italian league and he could also be available for relatively cheap, making him an ideal target for Napoli.

On loan at Roma

The club are already planning to hold talks with Arsenal over the next few months ahead of a potential deal for the 27-year old, in an attempt to beat Roma to his signature.

Roma is the club where the keeper has been plying his trade over the last two seasons and they are hoping to try and turn the current deal into a permanent one in the summer transfer window but they now face competition to do so from Napoli.

Either way, it looks like the shot-stopper could be leaving the Emirates Stadium permanently at the end of the current season.

There is no new deal on the table for Szczesny as of yet and it doesn’t look like there will be a fresh offer anytime soon. His current deal expires in a year’s time and rather than let him leave then for free, Arsenal could decide to cash in on him now instead, with Napoli and Roma both willing to sign him up.
