Jose Mourinho confirms Brazilian will not feature next term

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that new signing, Nathan, will not be a part of his plans for the forthcoming Premier League season.

The 19-year-old signed for a £4.4million transfer fee last week, but Mourinho has confirmed that the player is not in his immediate plans going forward, with a loan move likely.

NATHAN TO TAKE THE LOAN ROAD?

Chelsea currently have 26 players on-loan away from Stamford Bridge, with a move to their Dutch feeder club, Vitesse on the cards.

Speaking ahead of the trip to West Bromwich Albion on Monday, Mourinho said:

“Nathan will not be in Chelsea’s squad next year, simple as that,” Mourinho said.

“You buy, in very good circumstances before the price goes to the moon. You develop the player. He belongs to you, is on loan, and in the right moment you bring him back.”

The Portuguese has been on the end criticism in the past for failing to hand youth a chance, but feels that his ‘loan’ philosophy will work.

“Academies are a process,” Mourinho said. “The process starts with the facilities, but doesn’t end with the facilities. It ends with the co-operation between the academy and the first-team area. In this moment we are working well.

“The players feel it. We know we are going in the right direction. The players also know, and they trust us and know what we do is the best for them.”
