Neville: Picking Liverpool or City to win the title is like choosing between two blokes to nick your wife

Gary Neville refused to admit who he would prefer win the Premier League, with his former side Manchester United languishing in seventh place.

When asked about Liverpool and Manchester City’s title chances, the Sky Sports pundit responded: ‘It’s like having a choice of two blokes to nick your wife.’

Unfortunately Ryan Giggs was unavailable to comment on Neville’s statement.

Neville won the Premier League eight times during his long spell with Manchester United, as well as three F.A cups and two Champions Leagues.

He added: ‘At this moment in time Chelsea have dipped and City should win (the title). But Liverpool have got an incredible spirit and momentum.’

Liverpool hit the summit of the Premier League on Sunday after mauling Tottenham 4-0 destroying any chance they had of finishing top four.

Neville’s pundit rival Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool have all the quality and belief to end their 24-year wait to be crowned champions of England.

Both Chelsea and Manchester City have to visit Anfield, two daunting tests for all involved. These are the games that will enviably decide where the Premier League trophy ends up come may.

On current form alone Liverpool have got to be seen as favourites, for neutral fans this would be seen as a title won purely on merit. Rather than hundreds of millions of pounds spent on world class talent that have not won a bean, or produced the sort of performance that deserves the Premier League title.
