According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Neymar is desperate to return to his former club Barcelona and has even been in contact with the club hierarchy over the course of the past few months.
The Brazilian superstar dramatically quit the Camp Nou for Pari Saint-Germain two years back only to become the world’s most expensive player at £200m. However, after two seasons in the Ligue 1, Neymar has been unable to settle into the French capital despite being hailed as the club’s best player.
The report claims that Neymar asked his father to contact the officials at Barcelona and has even forwarded an apology for leaving the side back in 2016. According to the 26-year-old, Thomas Tuchel has not done a decent enough job with PSG.
Earlier in the week it was also reported that Neymar’s representatives had met with the Barcelona camp back in Brazil to negotiate terms over a transfer. The La Liga champions were claimed to have sent Andre Cury, one of their top scouts in the South American subcontinent to meet with the player.
Cury supposedly met with Neymar just before Christmas along with Israeli super agent, Pini Zahavi.
Reports earlier in the year claimed that PSG had set a release clause of £160m which could only be activated after the 2019/20 season. It is unclear whether Barcelona are willing to wait that long for the prodigious return of their former winger but currently, all reports indicate a vague link between the two parties.
