Brazil coach Tite has decided to reinstate Neymar as the captain of the Brazil national team. Neymar had decided to discontinue the armband after the Selecao won the gold medal under his captaincy at the Rio Olympics.

Tite had rotated the captaincy role since then as we saw a number of players being handed the responsibility in the World Cup. The five time world champions crashed out of the tournament following a quarterfinal loss at the hand of Belgium.

Neymar particularly drew avid criticisms for his antics on the pitch. The former Barcelona player is regarded as one of the most talented players in the world currently but when it comes to fouls, he does tend to exaggerate.

Neymar feels this responsibility will have a good effect on his game. “I accepted again because I’ve learned a lot and I will learn much more,

“And this responsibility will be a good thing to me.

“My responsibility is even bigger now due to the captaincy but if you don’t play [good] football there’s no need of it.”

He also apologetic for their show in the World Cup. “I want to apologise to the supporters which got mad with us because losing is a very bad thing. We believed we could win it but it wasn’t possible.

“I think that probably no one here in this room will ever live something close that I’ve lived not even during the Olympics, but after the World Cup as well.”
