Nicky Butt believes Manchester United are lacking confidence which could hurt them in the long run.
United did manage to rack up a number of wins prior to their game against Manchester City. On the back of a positive result against Juventus, the Red Devils were hoping to reflect their form in the Manchester derby.
But Pep Guardiola’s side showed they meant only business as they outclassed their cross town rival 3-1 to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League table. Chances of closing the gap with the table toppers are looking pretty slim as the Red Devils are currently 12 points adrift of the Sky Blues.
the Manchester United academy manager said, “I think it’s difficult when you have got players that aren’t in form.
“It doesn’t matter who you are or what team you manage, if the players are not on a high or confident they are not going to win too many games.”
“At United at the minute, players are low on confidence. They came up against probably the best team in Europe (Manchester City) and got beaten.”
“They are steadily improving.
“The manager has recognised that and they are getting consistency in the team.
“The injury to Pogba can kill any team. They are not getting all the luck but that City game is gone now and hopefully they can push on to Christmas and get into a position where they are challenging in the top four.”
