Brendan Rodgers prepares mass sales to correct last season

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is ready to sell NINE players from his first-team this summer after last season’s shortcomings.

The Reds fell from second to sixth in one season and also finished the season trophy-less yet again, despite reaching two finals in the domestic competitions.

As well as their poor league campaign, Rodgers‘ side were eliminated from the Champions League in the group stages, and then failed to achieve a top-four finish, meaning they won’t be in next year’s competition.

After watching his team under-achieve, Rodgers, who managed to keep his job, is now ready to make drastic changes to his squad and is expected to sell up to nine players from his current crop.

Four New Faces

Rodgers has already been busy in the summer window, signing four players, with three of them coming in on a free transfer.

The Reds have secured James Milner from Manchester City, Adam Bogdan from Bolton Wanderers, Danny Ings from Burnley and Joe Gomez from Charlton Athletic.

However, attentions will now turn to departures as Rodgers prepares to free up some space in his squad.

Three Gone-More to Follow

Three players have already left Anfield on free transfer as well, with Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Brad Jones all leaving, but nine more could follow suit.

Fabio Borini is widely expected to leave in order for a Serie A return after failing to impress throughout the 2014/2015 campaign.

Joining the Italian could be; Sebastian Coates, Luis Alberto, Jose Enrique, Javier Manquillo, Mario Balotelli, Lucas, Andre Wisdom and Lazar Markovic.

All mentioned names are expected to be put up for sale by Rodgers after failing to convince him they are worth keeping during his three-year reign in Merseyside.

Markovic will be the biggest surprise after only arriving at the club last summer, but failing to impress since his ÂŁ20million move from Benfica could see him shipped out already.

Another summer signing from last year who has failed to shine is Balotelli, and he too could be in line for a quick exit from the club.
