Former Liverpool boss, now manger at Napoli Rafa Benitez brought the Slovakian international to the Premier League in 2008 from Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg and is now looking to be reuinted with his former player at Napoli.
The Serie A side were heavily linked with a move for the defender following his exclusion from the first team last season, but the Slovakian has turned his fortunes around this season and is a main feature in a Liverpool side now favourites for the title.
Skrtel has managed 6 goals and 1 assists in the league this season and perhaps his most important goals came in the 5-1 demolition of Arsenal at Anfield.
The defender’s agent Karol Csonto believes Napoli, who have reportedly placed him at the top of their wish list for the summer, have no chance of signing Skrtel and any persuit will be futile.
Csonto told Calciomercato:“There is no chance of Skrtel going to Napoli. His relationship with Rafa Benitez? There is nothing to add about this.
“What I can say is that Martin Skrtel will not go to Napoli. Skrtel will remain at Liverpool.”
Rafa Benitez’s side will have to continue their persuit of a defender elsewhere come the summer.
