Leicester City have signed Youri Tielemans from AS Monaco for a club record fee of £40m. The Belgian have penned down a four-year contract with the Foxes.
This transfer, of course, comes after months of the player drawing strong links to Manchester United. But, in the end, Brendan Rodgers successfully snapped one of his most influential players from last season.
Tielemans arrived at the King Power Stadium on loan last January and made 13 appearances, scoring 3 important goals. His arrival just beat out Ayoze Perez’s £30m switch from Newcastle United which was previously a record for the Foxes.
Rodgers also added a 21-year-old James Justin from Luton United, a transfer which could rise to around £8m, as per the Guardian.
“It is such a great feeling to sign for this club. Ever since I arrived on loan last season, all the players, the staff and the fans have been fantastic with me, so I’m thrilled to be able to become a Leicester City player,” Tielemans told the club’s official website.
“I believe that we have the talent in our squad to achieve something special and for any player, that’s an exciting thing to be a part of. I really can’t wait to get started again with this club and do everything I can to help my teammates.”
