Italian and AS Roma forward Stephan El Shaarawy has agreed to join Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua after the two clubs agreed on an €18m fee for his transfer. Shanghai Shenhua announced the deal via social media networks and on their official website.
The statement read:
“Shanghai Greenland Shenhua Football Club and Italy’s Rome Football Club have reached a transfer agreement.”
“Stephan El Shaarawy, who has dual Italian and Egyptian nationality, is expected to arrive in Shanghai on July 8th, Beijing time.”
“After completing the relevant procedures, he officially joined Shanghai Greenland Shenhua.”
El Shaarawy sealed a permanent move to Roma in January 2016 after spending a loan spell with them as an AC Milan player. The 26-year-old netted 11 goals in 33 games for the Italian outfit last season.
With Shanghai Shenhua looking bleak at the 14th spot in the CSL league table, the club will hope El Shaarawy provides the required firepower to propel them upwards.
