Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on Chelsea defender David Luiz as they look to secure a £50million deal for the Brazilian.
The centre-back has been in-and-out of The Blues’ first-team this season and has found life under Jose Mourinho tough, which has seen him searching for a move away this Summer in order to play regular first-team football.
The 27-year-old has been closely monitored by Spanish and German giants, FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, but it appears mega-rich French side, PSG have won the race for his signature as they look to wrap up a staggering deal which could see Chelsea rake in £50m.
If the transfer goes through, Luiz will become the world’s most expensive defender, eclipsing Rio Ferdinand’s price-tag of £30m when he signed for Manchester United from Leeds United, and also Thiago Silva’s transfer from AC Milan to PSG, which cost the French side roughly £33million.
Mourinho is happy to allow the Brazilian to leave and believes finding a replacement will be easy enough for the West London side.
