FC Barcelona winger is expected to leave club

Pedro has finally spoken out about his own future, and he’s admitted that although he doesn’t want to leave FC Barcelona, he may have to in order to get regular first-team football.

The Spaniard scored the Super Cup winner last night in extra-time against La Liga rivals Sevilla, and after the game he confirmed that his situation is difficult because he loves the club, but wants to play football week-in, week-out.

Pedro is behind the likes of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Arda Turan, when the Turkish international is eligible to play in the New Year.

The 28-year-old has been at Barca all his career after graduating through the academy, and despite signing a new long-term deal earlier in the summer, he looks set to leave the club.

New Barca technical secretary, Robert Fernandez, confirmed yesterday that Pedro wants to leave the Nou Camp, but the winger has since hit back at the official and said his comments are unfair.

Pedro Critical of Fernandez

“There are many pros and cons about my situation,” Pedro said.

“The comments of Robert Fernandez are unfair. He’s made some very unfortunate declarations. I’ve crossed two words with him and he doesn’t know what I’ve been through at the club to talk like that of me.

“I know who I am and I will always be of Barca. Such people shouldn’t speak in this way.”

He added: “I’ve not said what Robert’s said, or at least not how I said it. I’m calm, happy and I will always continue giving everything if I continue at this club.”

Future Talk

When asked about his future, Pedro continued: “The answer is no. But it’s complicated for many things.

“It’s not for money, as has been said – which is another lack of respect. It’s a question of continuity, of minutes. I’m an ambitious player. Stay or go, I will always be of this team.

“I don’t know if it will be my last game for Barcelona. I only want to enjoy this title.”
