Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he never doubted Yaya Toure.
Toure scored City’s first goal in the 82nd minute, which was followed up by an 89th minute goal from Sergio Aguero, to wrap up the win away at Aston Villa, at Villa Park on Saturday.
The goal, which sent the title holders on their way to the win, was Toure’s first League goal of this Premier League campaign.
And despite recent criticism of his form, Pellegrini said that he always backed his 31 year ols midfielder, he was quoted in an interview with the BBC.
“I know perfectly the way he thinks and the way he can play.
“Like every player he can have better games or not so good games, but I have never had any doubts about him.”
Pellegrini also does not feel his slow start to the season is down to personal problems he experienced in the summer regarding his future, and the death of his brother in June.
“Yaya has had a lot of different things happening in his private life,” Pellegrini said. “But when I spoke to him he did not have any problem with his commitment to the club and he did not want to go anywhere else. I think that was a misunderstanding.
