Pep Guardiola plans audacious move for Mesut Ozil

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is set to table a bid for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to the London Evening Standard.

Ozil has endured a tough time at Arsenal of late, having signed in a club record fee of ÂŁ42 million in the summer  deadline day of 2013, from Real Madrid.

He has also been played out of position in recent weeks, with Arsene Wenger preferring to play Ozil out on the wing, rather than in the favoured forward role, due to the signing of Alexis Sanchez.

Despite the sticky patch the German had lived with, he scored and assisted one of each during Arsenal’s recent 3-0 win away at Aston Villa last Saturday.

And with the World Cup winner coming back into some form, this appears to have alerted Guardiola, who is set to keep tabs on the former Real Madrid man.

The Bayern Munich boss is keen to strengthen his all powering Bundesliga squad even more, and views Ozil as a possible recruit at the Allianz Arena.

And the London Evening Standard believe that Arsenal may consider selling him, should his performances not improve on a regular basis.

Following the win at Villa, the German hit out at his critics, by stating: “I don’t play to prove anything to anybody, I play for Arsenal. I have the feeling that I am criticised more than other players.

“That happened to me in the Bundesliga and also at Real Madrid.

“We have only just started the season, we have new players in key positions. Our collective game can’t just work well from one day to the next.

“Ten weeks ago I was named in the English team of the season [via an internet poll on the Premier League website]. I was world champion then. But after a few games everything is called into question again. It is strange but I know what I can offer.”
