After the sacking of Tim Sherwood earlier this month, Tottenham are out looking for a new manager and Southampton boss Pochettino is reportedly in advanced talks with Spurs.
Pochettino, 42, took over at Southampton in January 2013, when he replaced sacked manager Nigel Adkins and led them to a comfortable eighth place in the Premier League. His future at St Mary’s had been disputed after the departure of Chairman Nicola Cortese in January. Spurs had been linked with hiring Ajax head coach, Frank de Boer, however now Pochettino seems to be at the top of Tottenham’s shortlist.
The Argentine revealed earlier this month that he was to discuss his future at St Mary’s at the end of the season. He still has one year remaining in his contract at Southampton, however he demanded answers from the board over the direction the club was heading in before committing to his future.
“It’s up to the board to discuss with me the new project that will be in place for next season,” Pochettino told BBC South Today on 9 May.
“It’s not up to me to decide when those talks will happen.”
