The Champions of Holland have recently rejected a ÂŁ10million bid for the 24-year-old

Zenit St. Petersburg are chasing Georginio Wijnaldum as a replacement for Premier-League bound Axel Witsel.

Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in Witsel and could fight it out to bring the ÂŁ24million-rated Belgium international to England.

The 26-year-old has openly admitted he wants to leave Russia and has also left open the possibility of a move to Serie A.

However, any move for Witsel may now prove difficult with Zenit’s recent bid for Wijnaldum being rejected – the PSV man is reported to be their preferred replacement.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the Russian Premier League club have recently had a bid rejected with PSV manager Phillip Cocu keen to keep hold of the Dutch ace.

Cocu, who recently lost Memphis Depay to United, is determined to avoid an exodus of players after his side won the league for the first time in four years.

Depay to United

Depay, 21, moved to the Premier League side on a four-year deal after United paid a fee of ÂŁ31million for the Holland international.

The Dutchman, who has played for PSV since he was a young boy, is so excited to be joining the Red Devils.

“This is a dream come true for me, a new chapter in my life and one that I am looking forward to,” said Depay.
