Danny Murphy has urged Manchester United to sack Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils had their worst start to a season in the last 50 years after Erik ten Hag led the club to their first trophy in six years last campaign.

Under Ten Hag, United finished third in the Premier League, won the Carabao Cup and reached the FA Cup final.

Recently, there have been published stories of dressing room unrest against the manager that led to the banning of several media outlets.

Ten Hag was backed by the club during the summer transfer window but the manager has struggled to get the best out of his players.

With the resources and quality at their disposal, Man United are expected to perform at the highest levels in the Premier League.

Ex-Liverpool player Danny Murphy believes Ten Hag should get the sack and find a replacement.

“The fact Bournemouth won at Old Trafford and no one is surprised tells you everything you need to know about Manchester United under Erik ten Hag,” Murphy for the Mail on Sunday.

“If United want to dine at English football’s top table again, Ten Hag is not the manager to take them there. United just cannot compete with City, Liverpool and Arsenal with the players they have under Ten Hag.”
