Spanish giants look to beat Premier League trio
Real Madrid are closing in on the summer signing of Valencia’s young Spanish full-back, Jose Gaya, according to reports.
The 19-year-old, who currently plays for Valencia, has impressed for the La Liga side this season, with Real confident of wrapping up an £18m deal in the summer transfer window.
Carlo Ancelotti hopes to partner Gaya with Porto right-back Danilo, who Madrid have already completed a deal for, with the Brazilian to arrive at the Bernabeu in the summer.
Tuttomercatoweb claim that Real will offer £18m in order to convince Valencia to let Gaya leave, with his current release-clause set at £13m.
Despite the rumours regarding a move to the Los Blancos, Valencia hope that they can tie Gaya down to a lucrative new contract, in the hope that he will reject the advances of Madrid, in favour to remain at the club for the long-term, taking his release clause to a staggering £29 million.
A bitter blow to English sides
The news will come as a bitter blow to three Barclays Premier League sides’ who are chasing the signature of Gaya.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked with a summer move for the Spanish Under 21 international, though it is looking that Real are to win the race for Gaya.
Gaya has been a mainstay in the Valencia back-line, having appeared 30 times, netting twice.
