Real Madrid eye January move for Robin Van Persie

Real Madrid are being linked with a £20 million raid on Manchester United for their Dutch forward Robin Van Persie once the January transfer window is open.

Van Persie had looked set to play a key role under compatriot boss Louis Van Gaal this season, after the two struck up a strong relationship during Van Gaal’s tenure as the international manager.

However, with the surprise last minute addition of Falcao, it now raises question marks about how much game time the former Arsenal man will get, facing competition from Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Falcao for a starting berth.

Madrid have only just recently addeded a Manchester United forward to their squad in the shape of Mexican Javier Hernandez, and FIFA agent Francois Gallardo believes the Champions League holders will return for Van Persie come January.

According to Gallardo, Madrid are already putting aside the £20 million required to buy the 31 year-old from Old Trafford, who again would face stiff competition for his place should he move to the Spanish capital.

With the Dutchman’s injury past, United may be tempted to cash in on Van Persie whilst his value remains high, although he would take some tempting to leave the club where he won his first Premier League title with in 2013.
