Real Madrid have ruled out signing Cruzeiro starlet, Lucas Silva, in the January transfer window, leaving it open for three of England’s biggest names to fight for the midfielder dubbed ‘the new Kaka’.

The 21-year-old is highly rated in his homeland and was expected to complete a dream-move to Real Madrid in the New Year.

However, Florentino Perez has confirmed that not only will Madrid not be signing Silva, they won’t be making any signings at all in the Winter window, meaning Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United could all land the playmaker.

The English trio will have to match the Brazilian side’s asking price of the midfielder, which stands at ÂŁ13million, but they have been dealt a huge boost with the knowledge that Madrid won’t be pursuing the Brazilian.

“Unless there are extraordinary circumstances, we will not bring reinforcements in the winter transfer market,” Perez said. “Right now there are none.

“If Lucas Silva has to come, it will be in the summer under normal circumstances.”
