According to recent reports, Real Madrid are interested in signing Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk amidst his contract talks at Anfield. A tweet from Italian outlet Calciomercato read as follows:

“Liverpool want to close Virgil Van Dijk’s renew until 2025.

“Reds are in talks with his agent and have offered new wages of €12.5M a year plus bonuses.

“Real Madrid is interested in him, but Van Dijk is not considering to leave.”

Van Dijk’s impressive performances in 2018/19 season saw him beat Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to the FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award recently. The Merseysiders are already keen on tying down the Dutchman to a long-term deal.

However, Florentino Perez is said to be keen on adding the defender to the ranks at Santiago Bernabeu. Meanwhile, van Dijk has already expressed his happiness in staying put at Anfield.

Some reports have also stated that Liverpool could sell the 27-year-old if they receive the right price, citing the Coutinho deal as an example. However, Jurgen Klopp will stand firm to hold on to his star and a move to Real Madrid looks unlikely at the moment.
