Pepe Reina has again stated that he will stay with the Anfield club, while on international duty with Spain. The 31 year old has been linked with moves to former club Barcelona, and with Liverpool reportedly having made a £10million bid for Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, it has added to the uncertainty regarding Reina’s future in England.

The Spanish stopper, nevertheless, has empathized that he feels “respected and valued” at Liverpool, and has no intensions of leaving before his contract expires:

“In principle my plan is to continue with Liverpool. I have three years left on my contract and I want to fulfill that and even go further”

Additionally, he insisted that he is happy as Merseyside and that his family shares his happiness: “The best option for my family is for me to stick with Liverpool”

However, despite the commitment, the Spanish International, who kept a clean sheet in Spain’s win last night, remains open to a transfer which could improve him as a player, as he stated: “Logically, if there was a chance to improve and go to a bigger club it would be a good opportunity”.

“Although there are few clubs bigger than Liverpool”.
