Ex-defender lists nine players they should have kept

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has blasted the club for letting so many players leave in the past few seasons.

The former-United defender watched on last night with BT Sport as Liverpool eased past Louis van Gaal‘s side 2-0 at Anfield in the Europa League.

After the game, Ferdinand and his former-teammate Paul Scholes vented their anger out at Van Gaal and the current state of Manchester United.

Ferdinand then continued by discussing player sales in recent years, and he listed off nine players that shouldn’t have been sold by the club.

Mistakes

“There’s a list of players I’ve written down here; Di Maria, Nani, Evra, Welbeck, Chicharito, Evans, Fletcher, Rafael, Kagawa, I could go on,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“Are they worse than the players that were out there? They’re better than that team out there, them players.

“That’s the problem and that’s why where I see here’s been a shift in the past couple of years is’s almost, well it has gone backwards, and that’s the disappoint thing.”

The likes of Angel Di Maria, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez are all performing well for their new clubs to add further insult to injury.
