Liverpool players are playing for their futures

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has warned his players that they are all playing for their futures at Anfield in the remaining four games.

The Reds lost 1-0 to Hull City last night at the KC Stadium, all-but ending their slim hopes of a top-four finish, and after the game, Rodgers was in no mood to praise his side.

Despite several poor results in recent weeks, Rodgers has stuck by his team and has praised them, however, last night he changed his mindset and sent a fierce warning out to the players.

As well as sending a warning to the team, Rodgers also highlighted Mario Balotello, who suffered yet another miserable night for Liverpool and was subbed off just after the hour game with a foot injury.

After the game, Rodgers said: “I think it’s clear over the course of the season, not just in this game, that he’s (Balotelli) struggling.

“I spoke to the players at the end and I told them that we have an obligation to fight right to the end of the season,” he added.

“It’s fair to say every single player here is playing for his future.”

Liverpool have just four games left of the season with Europa League their most likely European venture for next season, but with Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton breathing down their necks, they’re in danger of missing out altogether.
