More reports have broken out of both Chelsea and Atletico Madrid regarding the transfer of striker Diego Costa, and it now appears that the Premier League side are prepared to give Madrid Belgium international Romelu Lukaku.
The 21-year-old has spent the past two seasons out on-loan in England and is clearly not in Jose Mourinho’s plans, and as a way of making the deal sweeter for the Spanish side, Mourinho is now prepared to give them Lukaku plus money in exchange for the Spaniard.
Reports broke last night that a £32million deal was in place between the two clubs, and this morning Costa took to his official instagram account to confirm the move, and it now appears that it will be a player-plus-cash deal.
It isn’t understood whether or not Lukaku is willing to move to Spain, but Mourinho is keen to add him into the potential transfer as a sweetener for the Spanish club.
Lukaku has scored 16-goals this year for Everton and was linked with a permanent move there or even to Tottenham Hotspur, but it now seems Spain is his likely destination, which would give him the Champions League he desires.
The Belgium forward had a war-of-words with Mourinho earlier on in the season due to the way his loan move was dealt with, and from then, it’s been clear that his future is away from Stamford Bridge.
