Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman revealed he wasn’t expecting that kind of result following Holland’s triumphant victory over France in the UEFA Nations League.
Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum started the proceedings in the first half and Lyon forward Memphis Depay sealed the win from the spot in the injury time. The Oranje looked to be on a song in the last few matches as after taming 2014 World champions Germany earlier this was their second biggest victory off late.
Netherland failed to qualify for the recently concluded World Cup and also missed a place in the EURO 2016. Following his disastrous campaign with Everton, Koeman was handed the charge to lead the Holland side and it seems finally they are showing their true potential.
Koeman said, “I did not expect that we would be the better team for ninety minutes.
“I also did not expect to be able to read the whole match so well. I am proud of this mature performance against France. This is a huge step. We talk about it every time, that next step. Now we have seen a match in which we, even against an opponent like France, start well and hold on to the end.
