Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has come out and said that the Portuguese icon’s move to Juventus was set into motion as early as January 2018.

Cristiano told me back in January that he wanted to join the Bianconeri,” Mendes said, according to Tuttosport. “At that moment in time, I did not think that a deal would be possible, but I guess that I was wrong. I met up with [Sporting Director Fabio] Paratici and [vice-chairman Pavel] Nedved before the Juve-Real game in Turin [in April] and I then met up with [Juve President Andrea] Agnelli, too. That’s when I started to believe that a deal was possible.”

The goal-scoring machine spent a decorated 10 years in Real Madrid breaking almost every club and European record possible before switching to another giant in Juventus this summer. Many had thought that a tough challenge like in Italy would prove too much for the 33 year old but Ronaldo has once again set out to prove the world wrong, something he has done well since his early days in Sporting Lisbon.

The former Manchester United winger is a record 5 time Ballon d’Or holder and could well be on his way to a sixth if he continues his old exploits with the Turin outfit.
