Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted at a possible return to Manchester United before his career is over, reports the Daily Express.

Ronaldo was previously linked with a move back to Old Trafford from Real Madrid last summer, before penning a new five-year deal at the Bernanbeu.

The Portuguese winger was a cult hero at Manchester United, spending six years at Old Trafford, having signed for ÂŁ12 million from Sporting Lisbon in 2003.

Ronaldo then moved onto pastures new for a then world record ÂŁ80 million fee, to Madrid in 2009, and despite the glowing success he has achieved in Spain, he still longs for a return to United.

“I love Manchester,” Ronaldo said.

“Everyone knows that — I have said it many times. Manchester is in my heart. I left many good friends there, the supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day.”

The 29 year old then stated his desire to re-sign for the club in the future, with Ronaldo currently under contract for a further four years at Real.

“I am happy here in Real Madrid and have four more years, but in the future you never know because they treated me unbelievably there,” he added.

“I really did love being at Manchester United.

“Believe me, they will be a good team again, I’m sure of it. It is a great club.”
