Radamel Falcao has revealed that he was in talks with Manchester United over a possible transfer for months, according to the Daily Express.

The 28 year old penned a season long loan deal at United in the early hours, having completed a late move from French Ligue 1 side Monaco.

United have the option to sign the striker next season should they wish to do so, and the Colombian stated that he was in talks with the Old Trafford club for months, over a potential move.

“I am very proud to be at Manchester United,” he said.

“We have been in talks with the club for some months and, in the end, we were able to reach an agreement with Monaco on the last day of the transfer deadline.

Falcao is set to make his debut in the home game against Queens Park Rangers on the 14th September, and admitted that he hasn’t met any new team mates.

“I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with the players but, although they are stars, they are also footballers that play for the team to achieve the common goals of the group,” he added.

“I am sure this will be the basis of our success and in any team that wants to achieve important things.

“Angel (di Maria) is a fantastic player. I love the way he plays, I really do. I am very excited to be a team-mate of his and also to be part of Manchester United.”
