Ronaldo would consider United return, says Phelan

Former-Manchester United assistant manager, Mike Phelan, believes Cristiano Ronaldo could be back at Old Trafford one day.

Now at Real Madrid, the Portuguese winger has been strongly linked with a move back to the Premier League and in particular, a return to United where he made his name.

The 29-year-old left United in a record-breaking deal worth £80million, which was then topped by Gareth Bale’s move to the Bernabeu, and despite Ronaldo’s agent saying his client will retire in Spain, Phelan believes a return could be possible.

‘Ronaldo loved his time at Manchester United and, if Manchester United were interested in him again, then he would listen to that because part of his career has come through Man United,’ he told IBTimes UK.

‘But listen, he is where he is because of him being Ronaldo and, at the moment, Madrid are successful so I can’t see why he would think about coming back to Manchester United now.’
