Ryan Giggs chooses between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

Former Manchester United player Ryan Giggs has answered the age-old question: Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi? The Welshman believes that the Argentinian is a once-in-a-lifetime player, albeit he seemed to be inclined towards his Portuguese nemesis.

Giggs teamed up with Cristiano Ronaldo in his last years at Manchester United and won a bunch of accolades, including a Champions League title.

“Obviously I lean towards Ronaldo a little bit because I played with him and saw him develop as a player. But Messi is a genius, he’s a once in a lifetime player. It’s as simple as that,” he said.

Giggs also spoke about Gareth Bale’s uncomfortable situation at Real Madrid. The Welshman decided to stay put at the Bernabeu after failing to secure a move to China, but his future appears to be far from sorted out.

“It’s strange. From the outside, it looks strange. For the quality he possesses and what he’s won there: four Champions Leagues. I’m his coach for Wales, he’s recently been my captain, and is a good professional. He’s a player that can turn a game on its head like he did against Liverpool for (Real) Madrid,” he said.
