Sami Khedira is still hopeful of a move to Arsenal, according to German team mate Lukas Podolski.

Khedira has been linked with a move to Arsenal from Real Madrid for some weeks now, asnd having starred in the World Cup finals with eventual winners Germany, Arsene Wenger is set to issue a swift bid.

The player saw a move stall through his wage demands, having seen Real Madrid buy several midfielders in recent weeks.

Madrid have signed Khedira’s German team mate Toni Kroos, as well as Colombian sensation James Rodriguez, outting Khedira’s first team chances in doubt.

But Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski stated to German media that he hopes a deal can be done.

‘I didn’t have to try to [convince Khedira to join Arsenal],’ he said.

‘Sami knows how much fun he could have with me, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker at Arsenal.’
