Sarri says that Ruben Loftus-Cheek can become a star at Chelsea
Maurizio Sarri has hailed 22-year-old youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek and has challenged him to become one of the best players that Chelsea have ever produced. Loftus-Cheek came into the season on the back of a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace last term which earned him a ticket to the 2018 World Cup.
The 22-year-old has had to wait patiently for his opportunities under Maurizio Sarri. He has made only a solitary start for the Blues in the Premier League so far this season but has already netted thrice to go with his hat-trick against BATE Borisov in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League.
And Sarri believes that the youngster has shown a lot of improvement from the tactical point of view but he also believes that he is the one ‘for the future’.
“Ruben is a very good player and, potentially, he’s a great player,” the Italian told UK newspapers.
“He has played seven matches out of seven in the last month, so I’m really very happy with him. He’s improving a lot from the tactical point of view.
“In the future, he will be a midfielder but sometimes we need to use him as a winger, especially in the last part of matches with his physical impact. So he’s a very important player for us.
“In the future, he will be more than important.”
