Former Chelsea midfielder, Andre Schurrle, has admitted that he still ‘loves’ the West Londoners, despite departing Stamford Bridge in January.

The German World Cup winner, now at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, also revealed that he received a text message from Jose Mourinho, informing him that he would be getting a Premier League winners’ medal.

Schurrle gained a medal having made 15 appearances for the Blues in the 2014/15 season, before his £24million departure to his homeland at the turn of the year.

Schurrle’s Chelsea soft spot:

The 24-year-old, who spent two-years at Chelsea before he departed for Wolfsburg, stated that he still holds the club close to his heart.

He told BBC Sport: “Jose Mourinho sent me a text to say that I’d get a medal and he asked me to come to the last game.

“I’m really happy for the boys. They played a very good second half of the season so of course for me it’s good to get a medal but the boys did the work.”

“There came a little bit of a period for me where my body didn’t feel very good, I was not clear in my head and I didn’t have as many good moments for Chelsea.

“I wanted to come back to the Bundesliga, I wanted to feel a little bit more in the team and to get a bit more playing time.

“I love Chelsea still, I’m not frustrated, it was a great experience.”
