Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal is believed to have made Bastian Schweinsteiger his number one transfer target this summer. The midfielder has been continually linked with a move away from Bayern Munich, with reports claiming he is struggling to strike up a good rapport with boss Pep Guardiola.
So with the German possibly on his way out of the Allianz Arena, The Red Devils have emerged as strong candidates to claim the player’s signature. Van Gaal is looking to overhaul the current Man United squad and he has denied he will be moving for Toni Kroos (who was a target for ex-boss David Moyes) as he has written up his own list of transfer targets, and Schweinsteiger is believed to be one of them.
The 29-year old, who is currently at the World Cup with Germany, would set United back about £25m but it is a price they are willing to pay to try and secure Champions League football again next season.
