Defender – Glen Johnson – Stoke City
Often joked about due to his decline at Liverpool, but Glen Johnson is enjoying his football once again at Stoke City.
A vital three points against Aston Villa on Saturday at Villa Park and Johnson certainly played his part in the game.
A solid clean-sheet for Mark Hughes‘ men and a crucial three points gained after a slow start to the season.
Johnson maybe re-finding his former-self?
Defender – Gabriel Paulista – Arsenal
What a player he’s turning into for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.
Came in for the game yesterday due to Laurent Koscielny‘s hamstring injury and looked unbreakable alongside Per Mertesacker.
All the talk before the game was about Anthony Martial‘s pace causing the Arsenal defence problems, and although the striker got himself about a bit, he didn’t really effect the game.
Has Wenger finally found another reliable centre-back?
Defender – Scott Dann – Crystal Palace
Another impressive Crystal Palace victory and another game where Scott Dann has shined at centre-back.
Only three teams kept clean-sheets over the weekend and Palace were one of them with Dann once again being his commanding self in the heart of the back-line.
It could be yet another successful season for Palace and with Dann leading from the back, they shouldn’t have many relegation thoughts right now.
